French Innovator’s New Creation Boasts Unique Micromotor Functionality

Oct 26, 2024

French firm SilMach has announced TheTimeChanger x Alain Silberstein, a new watch that integrates its award-winning micromotors in an ergonomic design.

Unveiled at a preview during the recent We Love Watches event in Paris, the limited edition watch is a retrograde professional chronograph with unique flyback and split-seconds functionalities.

Powered by SilMach’s signature microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), the timepiece integrates miniaturised power systems to offer unmatched programmability, power efficiency and performance capabilities.

A “start/stop” button and “reset” button are the only external controls on the watch, allowing for a minimalist look.

Both the flyback and split-seconds functions benefit from automatic time correction during use, meaning that the watch’s “freeze” ability for its hand’s position allows the wearer to continue tracking real-time position in the background.

Alain Silberstein said: “With its level of precision and sophistication, this watch, which I greatly enjoyed designing with the engineers at SilMach, will bring joy to those looking for a high-performance ‘tool watch’. Highly readable and easy to use, whether in chronograph or timekeeping mode.”

The watch is manufactured in Besançon, France at SilMach’s facility.

Pierre-François Louvigné, SilMach’s co-CEO, said: “We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to supporting ‘Made in France’ technological innovation and to promoting local expertise, drawing on Alain Silberstein’s talent and the watchmaking culture of Besançon, renowned worldwide.”

The watch is limited to a production run of 300 pieces, and pre-orders will open at the end of November 2024 at a price of £1,575.
