microlino lite bubble car can be driven by 14 year olds and users without a driver’s license

Oct 15, 2024

At Geneva Motor Show 2024, which runs from February 26th to March 3rd, car company Micro launches the Microlino Lite, an electric bubble car that 14-year-olds and users without a driver’s license can drive. The Microlino Lite is a smaller version of the Microlino microcar, and it offers the same range as its predecessor, only the smaller version gets a top speed of up to 45 km/h. The driver enters the electric bubble car by opening the entire frame of the front part, which serves as the door, and as soon as they do, they are greeted by two seats, a compact steering wheel, and ample driver and passenger’s space.

Even if it is small, Micro’s Microlino Lite electric bubble car can accommodate up to two people, including the driver. At the Geneva Motor Show 2024, visitors can walk around the electric bubble car, so they can see that the mini vehicle is made of high-strength steel for its self-supporting body. Microlino Lite’s outer skin is made of steel and aluminum used in the automotive industry, and lo and behold, the electric bubble car even has a rollable sunroof so drivers can let the fresh air in during the summer. A practical-sized trunk can host up to 230 liters of objects and packages, ample enough for those who want to bring camping equipment with them.

Microlino Lite can be driven by people aged 14 and above and those without a driver’s license, but Micro says this applies depending on the national regulations of the country in which the electric bubble car is to be driven. The car company uploaded the age requirements, and so far, only France and Italy allow 14-year-old drivers to hop on the Microlino Lite. Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Austria’s age requirement starts at 15, while Belgium, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, UK, Portugal, and Norway begin at 16. Most countries require at least an AM driver’s license to take over the Microlino Lite, while France doesn’t require it if the driver was born before January 1st, 1988.

Like its predecessor, Micro is building its Microlino Lite in Turin, Italy. The electric bubble car has a basic range of approximately 100 kilometers, which can be optionally extended up to 180 kilometers, the car company shared during the Geneva Motor Show 2024. The production release begins in the early summer of 2024, around July, and the electric bubble car is offered in two colors, Venice Blue and Berlin Anthracite. As of publishing the story, the entry-level price of Microlino Lite starts at around 170 USD per month (or 149 CHF).
